This is a portrait in a series about the now, extinct type of coffeehouse inspired by the "Seatle Scene" in the early 90's. In particular, this is a depiction of the Dharma Coffeehouse in downtown Fairfax Virginia, one of the only true bohemian cafés in the tradition of the Parisienne intellctual and artistic lineage. There were potheads, crackheads, punks, graphite on the walls of the bathrooms worth mentioning, smoking, actual conversation that mattered and real music. Real coffee and liquor. It disappeared in 1995 after being there for only a few years.
